KeyBear is a personal project of mine. I am a father of two, and one of my children is called Gấu — bear — at home, which is where the name comes from.
I went looking for a site where they could learn to type with all ten fingers, and nearly everything I found was in English, full of advertising, and marked accented Vietnamese as wrong. So I built this one for the two of them.
It teaches touch typing in Vietnamese, from the first two keys through to the tone marks and on to real words. It is completely free, there is no advertising, and nothing here is for sale.
Something broken, or an idea for the app? Write to keybear@arcozy.com.
A child never signs in. What they type, the letters they have learned and the stars they have earned all stay in the browser on their own device, and nothing is sent anywhere for them to practise.
A parent may optionally create an account with an email address, and only then does a copy of that progress travel to our server, so it survives a lost device. The account can be deleted from the settings screen, which removes that copy.
We count visits with our own analytics, which sets no cookie and builds no profile of anyone. There is no advertising, no tracker belonging to anyone else, and nothing about a child is ever sold or shared.
